Take an Exciting Cross-Country Adventure with a New Motorhome RV

Mountain in front of river with blue skyIf you are planning an RV road trip across Northern Canada and want to fully enjoy what the true North has to offer, it’s worth your time to carefully plan your excursion. One of the most important factors to consider is securing a reliable and comfortable RV that can withstand hundreds of kilometers, as well as the weather, especially if you plan to venture off in the winter. The last thing you want is to be left out in the cold, miles away from home, in an RV that is unsuitable for the diversity of our Canadian terrain and weather.

Popular RV Road Trip Destinations in Northern Canada

If you have already secured a winterized motorhome in Edmonton Alberta, it’s time to start mapping out your trip to ensure you are able to take in as many sites as you can, including the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. Be sure to check out Mother Nature’s light show by visiting remote places like Whitehorse, Yukon, La Rouge, Saskatchewan, Mucho Lake Provincial Park, British Columbia, Fort McMurray, Alberta and Iqaluit Nunavut. You may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Canadian wildlife, including moose, buffalo, bears, bison, wolves and caribou.

Here are a few of our favourite Canadian road trips and sites to explore:

  • Icefields Parkway, AB – The Icefields Parkway is considered to be one of the most spectacular drives across the country, particularly because of the huge glaciers atop the Rocky Mountains. Enjoy a 4×4 ride onto the glacier at the Columbia Icefields or a walk on the Glacier Skywalk. Keep an eye out for wildlife and be sure to drive slowly to enjoy this unforgettable drive.
  • Alaska Highway, YK – Starting in Dawson Creek, BC and spanning 1300km north to Delta Junction, Alaska, this highway was constructed during World War ll to transport US soldiers to Alaskan bases. A beautiful site to see from the window of your motorhome!
  • Viking Trail, NL – This trail begins from the west coast of Newfoundland through to southern Labrador, with two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in between. Enjoy hikes and exhibits at Gros Morne National Park and L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site where you can learn about the area’s history and aboriginal people. Be sure to check out the icebergs, bays, and the tallest lighthouse in Atlantic Canada along the way.
